VERONET: new name for ANDATA's distributed control network

ANDATA's solutions and products in the field of distributed, autonomous control systems will officially be summarized under the new name VERONET from now on. The main field of VERONET's application (the name stands for the German abbreviation of Traffic Control Object Network) is the "intelligent" control of traffic flows in the form of "intelligent" traffic lights or Car-2-X-communication of futures autonomous vehicles. But VERONET can also be applied in the same way to SmartGrids or for the coordination of automated guided vehicles in industrial production as well as in shipping traffic or similar. Further details can be found under www.veronet.eu or by request from traffic@andata.eu.

New Blog for ANDATA's Software

From now on all changes in ANDATA's software will be documented in a Software Blog. Traditional release notes will not be distributed in the old format any more. That way we hope to deliver a better overview of the changes and new functionalities across all tools. Additionally the new format will allow a better demonstration of the motivations, philosophies and consequences of the changes and new features.

"Big Data", what then?

ANDATA's opinion and experiences on the currently hyping topic "Big Data" can be found in an article in the current April/May issue of Traffic Technology International. The core message there: data for its own does not solve any problem, instead the proper mathematical models, algorithms and processes are the key to success. And if the right solution techiques are used, the issue of "Big" Data normally does not even arise at all.
